Description

The Prestbury monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 5 meters south of the southeast corner of the nave of the Church of St. Andrew. This tomb dates from the late 18th century and is made of stone. It features a flat lid with a moulded edge that is slightly indented at the corners on the long sides. The main sides have a square central panel with a sunk oval shape and sunk paterae at the corners. The ends of the tomb have wide pilasters, with a raised circle containing a swelling on the east face and an urn in a sunk rectangular panel on the west. The base is moulded. This monument commemorates Joseph Prestbury, who died in 1793, along with various others.
