Description
Eden's Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with extensions from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The ground floor is made of painted or rendered brick, while the upper floor features brick-nogged timber framing. The rear wing is constructed with Flemish bond brickwork and has a tiled roof. The building has a three-bay front and is arranged in an L-plan over two storeys.
The front of the farmhouse has a front door located off-centre to the right, which is sheltered by a covered glazed porch added in the 19th century. This porch includes side-lights with semi-circular heads and a boarded gable with decorative bargeboards. The main posts at the ends extend to the ground level. On the left side, there is a three-light casement window, while on the right, there is a three-light mullion and transom window. To the right of the main structure, there is a single-bay brick extension featuring a two-light casement window with a cambered brick arch.
The first floor has weatherboarding on the bressumer, with framing above that is two panels high. There are two three-light casement windows set towards the centre of the two-bay building, each within a wide panel, with a thin stud below. To the right, there is a smaller window similar to those in the brick extension. A brick chimney is positioned against the gable of the timber-framed house on the right, with a lower roof on the extension.
On the left return, the ground floor is rendered up to the gable, featuring a single-light leaded-light window on the right and a two-light casement window on the left. The weatherboarding continues above the bressumer, as well as on the rail, tie beam, and collar of the truss, which has V struts at the apex. There is also a single-bay brick extension on the left, which has a three-light mullion and transom window on each floor, with a cambered brick arch on the ground floor. The left return of the extension shows a timber-framed truss with a brick chimney outside the fabric. The farmhouse forms a group with a nearby barn.
