Description
The Thatch at Windcross is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building features painted brickwork on most of the ground floor, with brick-nogged timber-framing above and a thatched roof, which is tiled on the extension. It has two bays and is one room deep, with a rear lean-to and stands at one and a half storeys.
The front of the house has a late 20th-century front door situated under an open hipped porch supported by barked poles. To the left, there is a single-light casement window, while to the right, there are a single-light and a two-light casement window, both with iron opening lights and weatherboard above. On the right side, there is a single-storey extension around the chimney that includes a single-light casement window and a boarded door.
The first floor features timber framing that is one panel high, with two swept dormers that have two-light casement windows; the left dormer has a third blind panel on its left side. A timber finial adorns the gable on the left, and there is an external brick chimney against the right gable, with a hipped roof on the extension.
