Description
This is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, about 2 meters north of the east end of the nave of the Church of St. Margaret. It dates from the second half of the 18th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a moulded edge. The north side has an oval surround decorated with sprays of leaves, while the south side has a fielded panel with scalloped corners and leaves, also framed with a moulded edge. The ends of the tomb have gadrooned pilasters, with an oval shape and a swelling center at the east end, and three cherubs' heads on the west stem. The entire structure rests on a wider stone base with a rectangular edge. The inscription that was originally on the north face and lid is no longer legible. At the time of the survey in August 1985, the tomb was heavily overgrown.
