Description

This cottage, built by Haskins, dates from the early to mid 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick nogging and a stone plinth, topped with a tiled roof. The structure is two bays wide, one room deep, and has one and a half storeys.

On the gable end, there is a boarded door to the right, with two-panel high framing to the left. The base of the chimney is made of stone and tapers to form the stack, with a corrugated iron lean-to roof on the left that covers a former oven. Above the door, there is a jowl to the corner post and a brace that runs down from the tie-beam to a beam at first floor level. The gable features collar and studs, along with a single-light window that has an iron opening casement.

On the right side, the studs extend to full height with rails nailed in place, creating three panels of high framing. There is a three-light casement window on the ground floor to the left, which is missing one mullion and has an iron opening casement with hooks for shutters, topped by weatherboarding. Above this window, there is a small opening to the right that is boarded over on the inside. The interior includes small turned balusters on the stairs and a cut tie-beam truss.
