Description
The Pickering monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 5.5 meters south of the south-west corner of the nave of the Church of St. Andrew. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat pyramid top with a step and a moulded edge. It has a reeded frieze, with the reeds stopping short of the corners. The north and south faces have raised ovals adorned with a spray of leaves above and sprigs of oak leaves below. The east and west sides have raised panels with a shaped top, all resting on a moulded base. There are various later inscriptions on the monument, some of which date up to 1866, while the original inscription is badly weathered.
