Description

The Sunday School, located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary, dates from the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed, roughly squared stone with ashlar dressings and has a tiled roof. The building consists of a single room with a lean-to extension on the left gable.

The entrance features a boarded door with moulded battens over the joints, a flat lintel, and is accessed by one stone step under an open porch. There are short spur walls on each side of the porch, with a timber post in front. The gable has a collar truss that is scalloped below, and an iron bracket for a lamp projects from the center. To the left, there is a decorative cast-iron rainwater head with a square pipe.

On the left side, a five-light mullioned window with a flat head is present, and set back on the left gable of the lean-to is a plain bargeboard with a slit window. A bellcote is situated on the right, featuring an open timber structure with a square shingled spire, a lead cap, and an iron spike. The building has crested ridge tiles and plain bargeboards on the gables. Inside, there is a stone fireplace on the back wall with a flat lintel that slopes back to the wall above.

The Sunday School forms a group with the Church of St. Mary and Ingleside Farmhouse.
