Description

Circa 1700, this building consists of Scotts Cottage and Silk Mills Yard, formerly listed as Silk Mills Yard. The construction is of coursed and squared rubble, with a Cotswold stone tile roof. There are two gabled dormers, and the windows are casements. The building features three ashlar chimneys, two of which have cornices. There are three windows with three-light casements in rebated mullion surrounds, with a label mould above the central ground-floor window. Scotts Cottage has longer mullions to the first-floor window, and an angled bay shop window with glazing bars below. A blocked shop door is situated next to the window, and there is a six-panel door with a pilaster frame, all sheltered by a lead drip. A tablet inscribed "J Scott 1747" is positioned above the door. Silk Mills Yard has a ledged door located off-centre to the right.
