Description

Grafton House is a circa 1800-1820 building located on the south-east side of the High Street. It is a three-storey structure built of ashlar, with a hipped slate roof and ashlar end chimney featuring curved plinth moulds. A cornice and blocking course run along the top of the building. The front elevation has three windows within raised surrounds, with glazing bar sash windows, the upper floor windows being square. The ground floor contains two pairs of 20th-century shop windows, and a central open-pedimental doorpiece with an arched doorway, panelled reveals, and a traceried fanlight. A single-bay, lower extension is present to the left, incorporating a cornice and small glazing bar sashes. A depressed arch coachway is visible, along with a similar archway to the rear. The rear of the building features an arched back doorway with a traceried fanlight.
