Description

The plinth for a cross shaft is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary, approximately 1.5 meters south of the chancel. It is possibly from the late 13th century and is made of limestone. The plinth is hexagonal in shape and features a hole designed for a square shaft. It has a flat-chamfered base and trefoil-headed niches on each side, each containing a carved figure that is now badly eroded. One figure may represent a prelate wearing a cope and mitre, while another appears to be a monk.
