Description
Northwick Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1700 that has been altered and extended. It is two storeys tall with a gable-lit attic and is constructed from squared and dressed rubble, featuring a band over the ground floor and a chamfered plinth. The roof is slate with coped verges and end chimneys. The building is divided into two parts. The right-hand section has three windows, arranged in a pattern of three, one, and three light mullioned casements, along with a central later gabled porch.
The farmhouse has a 'double-pile' plan with two gables facing east, showcasing two and three-light mullioned windows. There is a cross-mullion stair window. A contemporary two-storey range, built of coursed and squared rubble with a slate roof, connects the house to a barn. On the first floor of this range, there is a small window to the left and a three-light mullion window to the right, along with two loft doors accessed by modern wooden steps. The farmhouse features two doors, one of which has a chamfered surround and may serve as a through passage, possibly indicating a domestic use or a remnant of a long-house element, as suggested by the chamfered beam with an ogee step in the ground floor's left-hand section.
