Description

The monument consists of a chest tomb for Richard Hathaway and an unidentified pedestal tomb, both likely dating from the mid to late 18th century. They are made of limestone and feature a moulded plinth and capping on the base, with indented ends. The Hathaway tomb has a fluted frieze above plain end panels and slightly bellied cartouches on the sides. The unidentified pedestal tomb has a pyramidal cap that rises to a gadrooned top section, which is extremely eroded. It also has slightly bellied end cartouches and a delicate relief surround on the side panels, with a floral frieze on the south side and a key pattern on the north side. The tombs are located about 6 meters northwest of the tower in the churchyard of the Church of St. John the Baptist.
