Description
Kingscote Memorial Cross is a war memorial built before 1921, made of Portland stone. It features a freestanding cross on a tapering column, which stands on a rectangular base with decorative stone edging. At the intersection of the cross, there is a carved relief of the head of Christ. Below this, the inscription reads: PRO/PATRIA, followed by the dates: 1914 1918. The front of the shaft is engraved with the names of twelve individuals commemorated from the First World War, and beneath this is the text: REQUIESCANT/IN PACE. The base includes the dates: 1939-1945 and the names of six fallen soldiers from the Second World War. The stone edging features the carved text: RESURGAM at its center. Surrounding the memorial on the rear and sides is a capped dry-stone wall, and the structure is set on a paved area that is elevated by two steps.
