Description
The Church Room, part of the Gloucester County Council Education Department, was built around 1890, possibly by Sir T. G. Jackson, who was also making alterations to the nearby church at that time. This building is designed in the Cotswold 17th century style and is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a Cotswold stone roof with verges and kneelers, which have turned spinals on them, as well as saddlestones. There is a floor string band, and the building is two storeys high, with three stone mullioned windows on the side elevation. The gable wall has four light mullion and transom windows. A bell turret sits on the ridge of the roof, and there is a gabled side entrance with a tablet inscribed "Lava Deo," indicating that this was originally a village school. The building is included mainly for its group value. The date in the gable may read either MDCCCXM or MDCCCXLVI.
