Description
Red Lion Cottages, located on the south-east side of High Street, are 17th century buildings situated at the corner of Sheep Street. Number 2 was remodeled in the 18th century. Number 1 features some discoloured ashlar stone, likely from the old Campden House, which was destroyed by fire in 1645. Both cottages have Cotswold stone roofs; Number 1 has a gabled roof with a dormer, while Number 2 has a hipped roof at the corner. Number 1 is accessed from Red Lion passage and has a range of windows, including mullioned windows with a label in the attic, a small pane sash window with a label on the first floor, and a mid-19th century triple sash window on the ground floor. Number 2 has a blocked door at the corner and features a rectangular oriel bay with glazing bar sashes. It has one window facing High Street and two irregular windows facing Sheep Street, both with glazing bar sashes.
