Description

Village Farm Cottage and Village Farm House, formerly one large farmhouse, have been divided into two houses. Village Farm Cottage dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, while Village Farm House was added to the southeast in the late 18th century to early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof. Village Farm Cottage features a truncated stone ridge stack, stone end stacks, and one front lateral stack, while Village Farm House has similar stacks.

The layout is 'L'-shaped, with each house forming one arm of the L. Village Farm Cottage is a single storey with an attic and has two widely spaced gables, each containing a three-light leaded wooden casement with a timber lintel. Below these, there are large unleaded casements, with an additional one to the left. There was likely originally a central door with a lobby entry, but this is no longer visible. A clear break in the stone to the right indicates the addition of an agricultural building, which has a blind wall to the north and loft steps with a door to the south, now incorporated into the house. There is also a later lean-to at the rear.

Village Farm House consists of three storeys and has scattered fenestration on the east front, featuring all 12 or 6-pane sashes in flush stone surrounds. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the centre. The north gable end has a blocked doorway, three scattered three-light casements with timber lintels, and one two-light stone mullion at the basement level.
