Description
Cross Hands Post is a direction post dated 1669 that has been restored. It is made of oak wood and features cast or wrought iron finger signs. The signs are inscribed with directions and distances: to the north, "The Way to Warwick" at fifteen miles; to the south, "The Way to Gloster" at twenty-three miles; to the east, "The Way to Oxford" at twenty-three miles; and to the west, "The Way to Woster" at sixteen miles. While the directions are correct, the distances listed are inaccurate. This post is also known as Izod's Post.
