Description

The Stow Youth Hostel (YHA), formerly listed as premises adjoining and to the north of the White Hart Hotel, dates from the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar with a Cotswold stone roof. The building features quoin pilasters and a parapet band. It is two storeys and has attics, with a two-window front. The windows are sashes with glazing bars set in architrave surrounds; the windows on the left-hand side are paired. The front door is of eight panels with raised and fielded panels, the top two panels being glazed, and is sheltered by a small stone hood on brackets. The roof has stone verges and kneelers, and three gabled dormers with modern casements. Ashlar end stacks with weathering are also present.
