Description

Gatehouse Lodge is a mid-19th century former toll-house. It is a single-storey building with an attic, constructed from ashlar quality rubble and topped with slate roofs. The lodge has a cross plan with eaves wings extending to the east and west. Notable architectural features include moulded eaves and verge cornices, as well as two-light Tudor arch windows that have drips. There is a central chimney, which is now made of brick. The entrance is located in the west projection, while the south wing features a Tudor arch doorway with a split door, originally used for collecting tolls.
