Description
This barn, located to the northwest of Doughton Manor, dates from the late 16th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with quoins and features a Cotswold stone-slate roof. The barn has a long range that extends to the right beyond the original quoin blocks. On the left side, there is a large projecting gable entry with a round relieving arch above a heavy timber lintel, and a single trefoil-headed stone vent above that. The left end of the barn is hipped. Inside, there are four bays plus a hip, supported by king post trusses and three trenched purlins, with timbers that were likely renewed in the late 18th century. Each side of the cart entry has a first floor supported on steel beams. To the left of the cart entry, there is a small lean-to, and two buttresses along the wall to the right. The left-hand side of the cart entry retains tiered doors and a timber hinge post.
