Description
The Baptist Chapel, dated 1835, is set back from the High Street and was likely once hidden by other buildings. It is designed in a Classical style and constructed of ashlar stone. The front features a pediment with set-back Ionic end pilasters and tall arched windows that have pointed glazing. There is a central Tuscan portico with an open pediment, a Gothic fanlight, and panelled doors. Above the doorway, there is a panel on brackets inscribed with "Ebeneezer," and an oval date tablet is located in the pediment.
At the rear, accessible from Chapel Lane, there is a school extension that includes an oculus and a tablet inscribed "British School." The extension has segment-headed windows, one of which retains Gothic glazing.
