Description
Ballinger's Farmhouse is a detached house dating from the early to mid-17th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof and features stone and brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan with a cross gable on the left side and a gable at the left-hand end. It stands two storeys high with an attic and includes 3-light casements on the ground and first floors, which have stopped hoods. There is also a 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with a stopped hood that lights the garret. To the right of the gable, there are mostly timber-lintel 2 and 3-light casements, many of which have horizontal glazing bars. At the far right, there is a projecting gabled porch from the 20th century that features a 19th-century plank door at the front. The house has axial and gable end stacks made of stone with moulded cappings. Inside, there are deep-chamfered tie beams with moulded and jewelled stops, square-panelled timber-framed partition walls, and a stone fireplace with a moulded surround and keystone.
