Description
The churchyard wall, entrance piers, end pier, and railings located to the east of the Church of St Mary in Cheltenham date from the mid-19th century. The wall, which is approximately 1.5 meters high, is constructed of coursed rubble and features flat coping stones. It extends about 35 meters in length. The end piers are square in plan, standing around 2 meters high, and are topped with a crowning frieze, a moulded cornice, and raised caps. To the west, a similar pier marks the entrance, leading to spearhead railings that run for approximately 10 meters along a low wall to the north-east. This structure plays an important role in the setting of the Church of St Mary and connects with the walls and piers at the rear of Nos 210-216 High Street.
