Description

This is a pair of semi-detached villas built around 1840 to 1860, located on Albert Road, Cheltenham. They are constructed with stucco over brick, featuring a slate roof and brick end and party-wall stacks. The villas are distinguished by their stucco detailing, including horizontal rustication, a first-floor band, and a cornice with modillion eaves. The windows are predominantly 1/1 horned sashes; the ground-floor windows are tripartite, and first-floor windows are cambered-arched. Each villa has recessed, panelled entrances with overlights, accessed by flights of steps. Continuous balconies with embellished rods and lattice friezes are located centrally beneath the ground-floor windows, while window boxes decorate the outer ground-floor windows. The interior has not been inspected. The facades are complete with good iron detailing and the buildings form a visually appealing group with number 16 Albert Road.
