Description
The gates and railings to the central gardens in Clarence Square, Cheltenham, date from around 1840 and are made of cast iron. The structure is rectangular in shape, measuring approximately 80 by 60 meters, with gates located at the corners. The railings feature arrowhead designs and ball finials on the standards, while the gates are adorned with arrowhead bars and scrollwork panels. Historically, the center of Clarence Square was originally home to a nursery, making these gates and railings an important feature of the streetscape.
