Description
The wall and gates to the east of the Parade in Milton Abbot are a garden boundary feature dating from around 1909, likely designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens for the Duke of Bedford. Constructed from Hurdwick stone rubble, the wall has squared stone coping and follows the incline of the road at the north end in a series of steps. At the south end, it slopes at an angle parallel to the road. The entrances to number 14 and numbers 21 and 22 the Parade are marked by plain rectangular gate piers. There are three timber gates, two of which are likely replacements, featuring open rails, a curved diagonal brace, and long metal latches. This structure is included for its group value.
