Description
The Village Hall in Milton Abbot dates from around 1840 and was likely built for the Duke of Bedford. It is constructed of stone rubble with a plinth and some stone dressings, topped by a slate roof that is gabled at both ends. Designed in the Tudor style, the building has an irregular plan with two small staggered parallel ranges. The front range, located to the right, features a gable to the left and a porch at the angle with the back range. The hall is single-storey and has an asymmetrical front with two windows; the right-hand block is advanced and gabled at the front on the left side. The stone porch has a gabled roof with an asymmetrical gable and a chamfered four-centred stone doorway. The right-hand block contains two windows, including a two-light transomed casement with glazing bars set in a chamfered stone opening, complete with a hoodmould. The interior has not been inspected.
