Description
Lovecombe Cottage is a small house dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It features colourwashed stone rubble walls and a gable-ended slate roof. There are two colourwashed stone rubble gable end stacks, with the right-hand one projecting slightly and having a later brick shaft. The house has a two-room plan, with the larger room on the left, and each room is heated by a gable end stack. There is likely a cross passage at the centre, and originally, there may have been newel stairs in a slight projection in front of the left-hand stack.
The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two windows, which are late 20th century two-light casements with glazing bars. Originally, the windows had granite mullions, as noted in the original listing. The first-floor windows are set in two small gables and have two lights, while the ground floor windows have three lights. To the right of centre, there is a 20th century plank door under a slate pentice. There is a slight projection at the front of the left end that may have originally contained the newel stairs. Additionally, there is probably a 19th-century outshut against the right-hand gable end with external access. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey.
