Description
The gate piers and adjoining wall located approximately 20 metres to the south-south-east of Buckland Abbey date from the 18th century and were likely altered in the 19th century. The gate piers are made of granite ashlar and are square in shape, featuring reconstituted sandstone finials that have replaced the original ones. Each finial is pointed and has a fleur-de-lys shape carved at the top, with a cusped gable on each side at the base. To the east-north-east, there is a short section of rubble wall that incorporates a medieval pointed granite arched doorway, which has rebated moulding.
