Description
Lydbridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely has origins from the 17th century or earlier, but the main structure appears to date from the 18th century. It features rendered cob walls and a thatched roof that is hipped to the right, where it dips considerably, and gabled at the left end and rear wing. There is a rendered stone stack at the left gable end, which may be a cob stack axial to the main range and rear wing. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the lower rear wing possibly being the earlier part, and a two-room plan range at the front with a central entry. The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-window front with 19th-century two-light small-paned casements on the first floor and 20th-century casements on the ground floor. A 20th-century part-glazed door is located at the centre in a round-headed opening. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey, except for the ground floor of the rear wing, which showed no early features, although these may be concealed.
