Description

This is an early 17th-century farmhouse. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and cob, with stone rubble to the rear, and has a metal sheet roof with hipped ends. A section of the roof slopes down to the rear over an outshut, which has a ragslate roof. The house originally likely comprised three rooms with a cross passage, with lateral stacks heating the hall and lower end, and an end stack heating the inner room. A second entrance has been added to the front of the lower end. Service rooms are now located within a two-storey, continuous rear outshut. The front façade is asymmetrical, with six windows and was remodelled in the late 19th century. The ground floor features three two-light casements with glazing bars, set beneath timber lintels. There's an opening between the first two windows, housing a late 19th-century partly glazed door positioned within a partially blocked larger opening, also with a timber lintel. A 20th-century lean-to porch with an asbestos slate roof is located between the second and third windows, containing a partly glazed door. The rear outshut has 19th and 20th-century windows. The interior features brick segmental arches over the fireplaces, and the roof, dating from around the early 19th century, is likely contemporary with the addition of the outshut.
