Description

A farmhouse, likely dating from the early 17th century with later additions and alterations. The house is constructed of roughly coursed slate-stone, with a painted finish on the front and roughcast to the left-hand gable. It has a slate roof with painted slate-hung gables. Originally designed with a symmetrical plan, it features a central, two-storey projecting gabled porch flanked by gables, and an extension to the right. The fenestration is arranged as 1:1:1 windows. It has tripartite glazing bar sash windows, except for the porch, which has a 19th-century casement on the first floor and a six-panel door within a moulded wooden surround; the door has three over three panes. A slate datestone above the entrance was legible during a resurvey in December 1987. Inside, there is a rendered internal end stack to the left and a ridge stack in two sections at the junction with the later addition; this area has a straight joint immediately to the right of the stack. The addition features a 19th-century casement directly below the eaves and a pair of 19th-century casements on the ground floor to the right of a stable door, which is sheltered by a corrugated iron lean-to roof. The interior could not be inspected at the time of resurvey but is likely to be of interest.
