Description
Churchtown Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century. It features rendered cob walls and a gable-ended tarred slate roof, with two brick stacks at the gable ends. The layout consists of a two-room plan with an integral outshut along most of the rear wall, which contains small service rooms. The left front room serves as a larger kitchen/living area, while the right room is a parlour, with stairs located between them and a small entrance lobby. The building has two storeys and a regular three-window front, with the windows positioned towards the right end. The 16-pane sash windows are from the late 19th century and include horns, except for the ground floor left-hand window, which is hornless and likely original. To the right of the centre is a late 19th or early 20th-century gabled porch, behind which is a 20th-century part-glazed door. A small single-storey outbuilding with a chimney extends from the left end of the house, and the integral outshut at the rear nearly reaches the left-hand end. Inside, the left room features a large open fireplace with a square wooden lintel and insubstantial ceiling beams.
