Description

Yeat Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with later alterations, constructed from rendered stone and cob. The roof is covered with asbestos slate, featuring gables at the right end and a hipped design at the left end, and it was originally thatched. The building has three stacks on the ridge with brick shafts, including a stone stack at the left gable end, a rendered stack at the left end of the higher section, and a stone stack at the center of the higher section.

The farmhouse consists of two sections, with cob at the lower end and stone at the higher end. It likely began as a three-room plan with a through or cross passage, and there is a circa 19th-century addition at the rear. Internal alterations have obscured the original layout, and the higher end features a gabled front wing. The lower end has a lower roofline.

The building is two storeys high with a front that has one window on the lower end and three on the higher end. The current entrance is through a lean-to attached to the front on the right. There are two entrances into the lower end: one on the front at the left and another on the front at the right, which may be the passage doorway. The ground floor window in the front projection is a pair of 6-pane sashes, while the ground floor window on the right is a 3-light granite 17th-century mullioned window with casements that have glazing bars. On the first floor of the lower end, there is a 19th-century 16-pane sash window. The higher end features two 8-pane sashes from the 19th or 20th century and one 20th-century casement window.

Inside, the fireplaces are partly blocked, and the ceiling of the middle room is boarded over, possibly hiding earlier features. The roof space has not been inspected.
