Description

The buildings at 41-47 Irsha Street comprise a group of structures dating from the 16th or early 17th century, with later 18th-century elements and alterations. Number 41 is a two-storey building, originally of the 16th or early 17th century, and altered subsequently. It has two sash windows on each floor, featuring exposed frames and side glazing bars, beneath an early slate roof. The central entrance is from the early 18th century and has been altered, with a door consisting of six fielded panels. The exterior is stuccoed with rusticated quoins. A small, round window is located centrally on the first floor. Inside, the building reveals exposed timber framing, a two-panel door with wrought hinges, large hewn roof trusses and purlin, and a very wide-boarded in-and-out pine partition. Numbers 43, 45, and 47 date from the 18th century and have also been altered. They are two-storey buildings with four sash windows on the first floor, having exposed frames and side glazing bars. The exteriors are rendered and colourwashed. Number 43 has a plain entrance, while numbers 45 and 47 feature coupled entrances with enriched consoles. Internally, these buildings display hewn joists, a partly winding stair, and a large wrought sliding cupboard.
