Description
The K6 telephone kiosk, located 14 meters east of No. 73 Irsha Street, is a standard design made of cast iron and painted red. It features long horizontal glazing in the door and sides, with crowns on the top panels that are applied rather than perforated. Above the doors, there are rectangular white display signs reading "TELEPHONE" beneath a shallow-curved roof. The internal equipment has been modernized.
The display signs above the doors remain relatively clear, the paint is in good condition, and the glass window panels are intact. The kiosk is situated at a point on Irsha Street where the road alignment changes sharply, with buildings facing the estuary of the River Torridge. It is positioned 14 meters from the Grade II listed No. 73 and 22 meters from No. 72a Irsha Street, both of which are also listed buildings, creating a strong visual relationship with the kiosk.
According to the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, the modern telecommunications equipment within the K6 is not considered to have special architectural or historic interest.
