Description

The David Spright monument is a chest tomb located about 3.5 meters south of the porch of St Pancras Church. It dates from 1598 and is made of squared and coursed local stone, which was noted to be in need of repointing as of December 1987. The slate slab is slightly damaged at the corners and is partly obscured by lichen. The name of David Spright and the date 1598 are inscribed around the perimeter in gothic script. This monument is a rare example of a 16th century chest tomb that remains in its original location.
