Description
No 1 High Street is a mid-19th century dwelling that has been converted into flats. The building is constructed from random rubble local stone that is roughly squared, with ashlar stone dressings and vermiculated quoins. It features a shallow pitch slate roof with sprockets at the eaves. The structure is two storeys high and has five bays. The window openings are segmental headed and have keystones and ashlar surrounds that project slightly below the cills, with 12-pane sash windows. The entrance has a semicircular-headed door surround with a keystone and residual capitals, and there are boot-scrapers set into the dado. The building has a moulded plinth and panelled reveals, with a late 20th century six-panel door topped by the original semicircular fanlight that has radiating bars and marginal glazing. The interior has not been seen.
