Description
This building is a linhay and stable located immediately to the southeast of Parsonage Court in Winkleigh, dating from the late 18th century. It features a combination of cob and rubble walls topped with a hipped thatch roof. The structure has a plan that includes a 7-bay linhay on the right, with the three left-hand bays enclosed. To the left, there is a stable that has a small corn store partitioned off at the left end and a tack room to the right of the stalls.
The exterior is single-storey with a long asymmetrical front. The open-fronted linhay on the right is partly infilled with corrugated iron but retains full-height posts with crossbeams morticed into them. The left half of the front is rubble-faced and features four 19th or early 20th-century two-light casement windows. There is a doorway leading into the stable at the left end.
Inside, the stable has roughly chamfered cross beams, and the Edwardian joinery and fittings, including the stall divisions, are still present.
