Description

Stonelands is a Grade II* listed building attributed to the architect John Nash, who also designed the nearby Luscombe Castle in 1800. This house was constructed as a dower house for Luscombe Castle and was once the residence of John Rennie. It is a fine early 19th-century, two-storey house with a stucco exterior and a low-pitched slate roof. The entrance front features five windows and a Greek Doric portico, while the garden front has eight windows with slight projections at each end. Inside, there is an impressive hall with four Ionic columns and a double staircase that has a mahogany handrail and niches. The interior also includes six panelled doors and marble fireplaces.
