Description

This is a pair of headstones located about 24 metres north of the west tower of the Church of St Andrew. They date from the late 19th century and are made of red sandstone with inset tiles. The northern headstone is rectangular and features a cross carved in deep relief, with a glazed tile inlaid in the centre of the cross. At the base of this stone, there is a marble inscription panel commemorating Mary Ann Mayne, who died in 1896. The southern headstone is triangular and topped with a roundel. This roundel has an inlaid pattern of white glazed tiles forming a cross. The inscription on this headstone commemorates John Mayne, who died in 1864.
