Description
This is a granite cross located in the churchyard, approximately 21 metres north of the north-east corner of the Church of St John the Baptist. Originally situated on the green outside the churchyard until around 1870, it was re-assembled in 1934 in memory of the Reverend E L Rogers. The cross is of medieval origin and features a tapering octagonal shaft that stands about 2.5 metres high, with convex stops. The head of the cross and the octagonal base supporting the shaft were added in 1934, while the original octagonal socket-stone, which has mouldings at the south-east and north-east angles, remains beneath these later additions.
