Description

This is a late 19th-century wall enclosing a schoolyard, including gate piers. The wall is constructed of red sandstone, with the sections parallel to the road being lower than those within the schoolyard. It has grey limestone coping and iron railings. The wall’s design is Gothic, intended to complement the adjacent school building. The iron railings are notable for trefoil-headed panels between the vertical supports, with fleur-de-lis finials alternating with pairs of spike finials. The square gate piers feature Gothic gabled finials with blind trefoils in the gables. The wall is valued as a group feature with the school.
