Description
The churchyard cross located about 30 meters south-west of the porch of the Church of St Thomas is a Grade II listed structure. It features a cross-shaft that has been incorporated into a memorial. The shaft is likely medieval and made of granite, which is tapered and chamfered. The upper part of the shaft, including the right arm and lower part of the head, is made of a similar granite that appears less weathered, suggesting it may be from the 19th century. The top of the cross-head is a separate piece of granite that may also be medieval. The cross stands on a base and three octagonal steps, which were erected in the 19th century as a memorial to the Reverend Charles Courtenay, who died in 1894.
