Description
The Green is a small house dated 1831, with a height increase at the rear in the 20th century. It is built from painted stone rubble with a slate-hung front and features a grouted scantle slate roof with half-hipped ends. The gable end stacks are rendered. The house has a double depth plan, consisting of two main front rooms and a central entrance, with shallower service rooms at the back. There are single-storey lean-tos on either side, which are concealed by high embattled parapets at the front. The eaves at the back were raised in the 20th century to create a full two-storey structure.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front, and a central first-floor blind window. It has original 16-pane sash windows, while the left window on the first floor is a later 4-pane sash, all featuring slate cills. The central gabled porch has a slate roof and sides, made from large pieces of slate, and includes a half-glazed door with side-lights. Stone rubble walls flank the porch, concealing the lean-tos on each end wall. These walls rise above the roof and have embattled parapets that step down to follow the roof profile, each featuring a blind front window. A tablet set in the east gable end displays the initials RR and the date 1831. The interior is not accessible.
