Description

Barn. Dating from the 16th or 17th century, the barn is located approximately 20 metres west-northwest of West Pitten Farmhouse. It is constructed of slate rubble with a slate roof and gabled ends. A large, chamfered granite round arch cart entrance is centrally positioned, featuring stopped jambs. The north side has no openings. A buttress is visible on the southwest corner, and a large raking buttress stands on the west end. Two windows, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, are located on the front of the barn. The barn faces into a farmyard. Originally, the farmhouse was destroyed by a fire. This barn is one of a group of contemporary farm buildings forming three sides of a yard. The farmhouse on the remaining (east) side was built around the late 19th or early 20th century, replacing an earlier structure.
