Description
The cider house and retaining wall, located immediately to the east of Malston Barton, are structures that were formerly part of a barn. They date from the 17th century, with some parts possibly being older, although they have undergone significant alterations. The walls are made of slatestone rubble and are slightly battered, now reduced in height. The roof is a lean-to made of corrugated iron. The wall is built into the hillside, and the cider house, which was used for storing cider barrels, has its only opening on the south side. It extends back underground and features a stone barrel vaulted roof. The barn that was once situated at a higher level above the cider house has been rebuilt in the later 20th century.
