Description
This is a 17th-century former threshing barn that has been converted into a cider barn, located immediately to the north-west of Stancombe Farmhouse. The barn features slatestone rubble walls, with some cob at the top that has been partly repaired with concrete blocks. It has a hipped thatch roof and a rectangular plan that includes a central threshing floor. The right-hand end of the barn originally had a loft above it.
The exterior is single storey and includes a wide central cart entrance, with a 19th-century lean-to structure in front of the right-hand side. Inside, the barn retains an old wooden cider press that is still in use. The original roof timbers are intact, consisting of straight principals with collars that are halved and pegged on, as well as morticed apices.
