Description

This is a 16th or 17th century merchant's house of a “deux corps de batiments” type, featuring a rear kitchen block and gallery. A small court once stood behind, but has since been built over. The front facade was substantially altered and raised in the mid to later 19th century. The building is three storeys high and has a single window facing the street. The roof is covered in Welsh slate and features ornamental cresting. The front is timber-framed with slate hanging, and shares masonry party walls with adjacent properties. A boxed-out eaves cornice with brackets runs along the top of the front facade. The windows are flush-framed sashes, with two windows on the first floor. The ground floor features a loggia over the pavement, supported by Tuscan columns and an entablature. The shopfront has been altered.
