Description

Butter well located about 40 metres west of Hernaford Cottage, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of slate rubble and built into a bank, featuring a triangular corbelled arch at the open front, which has a rebate for a door that is now missing. The interior is also lined with slate rubble and has a corbelled slate roof. There are small square recessed shelves on either side, positioned low down but above the water level.
